Since its launch in 2000, REN has become a cult favourite amongst beauty editors and consumers with a retail presence in over 50 countries. REN briefed Hunter to design and manufacture a range of gift sets for both Christmas and year round gifting, delivering 8 SKU’s, across rigid card boxes and tin containers. Construction set out to reflect both the simple lines and the clean REN brand idea, whilst allowing the client’s stunning graphic design to cut through on shelf. The branding featured the majestic crane, known in Japan as a symbol of good fortune and longevity, due to its fabled life span of a thousand years.
Rigid card boxes were developed with 4 colour metallic ink and matt lamination to give a soft and luxurious feel to the gift sets. Tins also used 4 colour print with a gloss lamination to compliment beautifully the natural shine and luxury of tin. The range was complemented by paper bags for retail, alongside premium skincare microfiber and PU cosmetic bags.
The teams at Hunter and REN also worked together to find a Special Edition packaging solution for 2016 which would highlight the lightness, clarity and ethical credentials of the brand. A simply shaped packaged solution was proposed which amplified the aspirational, feel-good message of the brand in a playful way, and worked to highlight the colourful print design created by the brand’s chosen collaborator, Kangan Arora. The client was delighted with the finished products – the brand teams, in collaboration with Hunter, had achieved their goal of creating a stunning, unique retail environment, both in the UK and throughout the brand’s global distribution channels.
