At the core of the structure is a concealed push-button mechanism integrated beneath the McLaren branding. A single press releases the bottle from its cradle with precise, controlled ease, while discreet acoustic dampening softens the action, reinforcing a sense of engineering precision and considered quality.

The pack is constructed from 50+ custom components developed using a palette of 8 materials and manufactured through 8 distinct processes. Over 20 CAD iterations refined the overall structure and mechanism, supported by digital motion studies to evaluate performance and function, followed by prototyping using FDM, SLA and DMLS processes. For production, extruded aluminium parts were laser-cut to form apertures, CNC-machined where required for finishing, and die-cast components were also made. The aluminium parts received an electrophoretic coating to deliver a uniform matte finish, combined with carbon fibre effect frames and Alcantara-inspired lining to provide a tactile finish.
