Hunter Luxury’s Halo MK1 targets back-to-back London Packaging Week Innovation Awards success

Hunter Luxury is aiming for its second consecutive win at the London Packaging Week Innovation Awards after its Jack Daniel’s x McLaren Halo MK1 Limited Edition was named a finalist in the Luxury Drinks category.

Inspired by Formula 1’s Halo safety device and developed in collaboration with Brown-Forman and McLaren, Halo MK1 translates motorsport engineering into a collector-grade presentation case. A concealed push-button mechanism releases the bottle from its sculpted cradle in one smooth, controlled movement, while more than 50 precision-engineered components, eight material applications and eight manufacturing processes sit behind an experience designed to appear effortless.

Already recognised with multiple international design awards and shortlisted across several of the world’s leading design competitions, Halo MK1 has continued to build momentum since its launch at the Miami Grand Prix.

The latest recognition comes 12 months after Hunter Luxury won at the 2025 London Packaging Week Innovation Awards with the Hendrick’s Whimsical Watering Can, a limited-edition travel retail pack that took the Everyday Drink category.

Paul Hamilton, Head of Sales & Marketing at Hunter Luxury, said: “To be back in contention a year after winning with the Hendrick’s Whimsical Watering Can is something we’re incredibly proud of, particularly with a project as technically ambitious as Halo MK1.

“The challenge wasn’t simply to make the mechanism work. It was to translate an extraordinary creative idea into something that could be manufactured consistently at scale, while preserving the simplicity and elegance of the original concept. More than 50 components have to work together precisely, yet the person interacting with Halo should never see that complexity.

“That takes an enormous amount of collaboration, engineering and attention to detail, so this recognition belongs to everyone involved. We’re grateful to Brown-Forman and McLaren for trusting us to help turn such an ambitious idea into reality.”

Reflecting on the original design ambition, Sam Gardner, Senior Art Director at Brown-Forman Global Design, said: “There was a point when it stopped feeling like a case or a gift pack and started to feel like a piece of sculpture. That was when I realised people weren’t going to hide this away in a cupboard. They were going to treat it like a centrepiece.

“So many brand collaborations can end up feeling like two logos have simply been placed on an existing format. We wanted to genuinely share the DNA of Jack Daniel’s and McLaren to create something neither brand could have made on its own.

“My hope is that, 20 years from now, a collector can look at Halo MK1 on a shelf and still see it as a moment when we got that balance right. If it still feels striking and relevant, then we’ve done our job.”

The London Packaging Week Innovation Awards celebrate packaging innovation across multiple sectors, with 85 finalists selected for the 2026 edition. The winners will be announced at London Packaging Week on 17 September at Excel London.
